THE PROJECT METHOD 8th JULY

We have been working in our school with PBL (Project based learning) for 3 years but in this session we learnt how to structure project work and some rules and techniques to get the best of this methodology
The PBL focuses on the learning process rather than on the achievement of results and teaches through the project. It has multiple objectives: to convey learning context, to build transversal skills and competences, to develop values and attitudes, to link to the real world in terms of experiences and applications.
George Lucas Educational Foundation (He is more than the director and producer of Star Wars films) has researched about PBL (click on PBL before for further information)
The 5 keys for PBL are:

  1. Real-world Connection
  2. Core to learning
  3. Structured collaboration
  4. Student driven
  5. Multi-faceted assessment
The students should make a product in groups and they should present the work and evaluate it. The teacher guides them but they work on their own, learn to make decisions and have a critical thinking.

These are the PHASES of PBL:

  1. PLANNING THE AREA OF THE SYLLABUS TO BE COVERED AND SELECT THE REAL WORLD CONNECTION POINTS.
  2. PLANNING ACTIVITIES MAKING A SELECTION OF RESOURCES AND AGREEING ROLES
  3. PROJECT EXECUTION THE TEACHER MUST BE AVAILABLE TO THE STUDENTS TO HELP AND GUIDE THEM. STUDENTS WILL MAKE A RESEARCH USIND DIFFERENT SOURCES.
  4. PROJECT EVALUATION WITH FEEDBACK THROUGH THE PROCESS FOCUSING ON THE PROCESS AND THE RESULT
  5. PRESENTATION OF THE STUDENTS WORK IN CLASS OR THE WHOLE SCHOOL
Which TOPICS to choose?
There is a lot of information online to choose and engaging topic. Here are some examples:

We were given some templates to design and evaluate Project Based Learning, which we can show you any time.
I wanto to close this post with a quote I love and I always think of then I deal with PBL:
